Scanner Lab (Photos, Slides, etc,)

Do you have a bunch of old photos, slides, negatives, or family history documents that you want to make a digital copy of for sending to family, editing, or other reasons? 

The Sheep River Library has an Epson Perfection v850 Pro Flatbed scanner, plus the supports that help get high quality scans of 35mm slides, and 35mm or smaller negatives.

Please contact the Library to arrange a one-on-one session to be trained how to use our scanner and related equipment. 

While creating a digital version of your precious photos is a way to share them with family and friends, it is not the best way to preserve old photos. As technology evolves, it is possible that you will have trouble finding something that can read the thing that a digital photo is stored on. (For example, most computers these days do not come with a CD drive, so if you had copied you scans to a CD a decade ago you might not be able to access them easily now!) We strongly recommend that you print out a copy or copies of your most important photos using archival, artist quality, or at least acid-free photo paper, and store them in an acid-free or archival photo album.
