Equipment to Take Home
The library is more than just books, magazines, DVDs & BlueRays, audiobooks, and eResources. These are some other things you can take home with you!

Microspikes fit over top of your boots and provide added traction on icy terrain or walkways.
- We have a detailed size chart based on the size and type of the shoes/boots you plan to use with the microspikes in the library.
- One week loan. These cannot normally be renewed, so talk to library staff if you will need them longer
- Sheep River Library members only. Please tell a staff member what size(s) you need, and they will get them from our storage room.
Pedometers record the number of steps you are taking while you are wearing them (usually on a belt or the waistband of your pants).
- Three week loan, renewable twice.
- Available in the library in our adult non-fiction section. Please let library staff member know if you are having trouble finding them!

Our hiking poles are height adjustable, allowing for people of most heights to use them.
- Three week loan, renewable twice.
- Sheep River Library members only. Please ask a staff member to get the hiking poles from our storage room.

Our Bikes for All are available for Sheep River Library Members to borrow from mid-May until the end of September.
You can checkout a pair of snowshoes starting after the first snowfall until roughly April. (Exact months vary from year to year.)
- The size of snowshoes you need is determined by your weight. If you are hiking, remember to include the weight of your backpack!
- Sheep River Library members only. Please tell a staff member and they will get them from our storage room.
Learn About the World

130 mm collapsible Dobsonian telescope.
- Comes in a backpack-style carrying case, (the telescope must be transported upright, not placed on its side in a vehicle).
- 1 week loan.

Each Discover Nature backpack includes:
- a ~20L backpack
- Books and pamphlets on Kananaskis and Alberta plants, animals, and insects
- Some of the pamphlets are in multiple languages!
- Activity cards (scavenger hunts, etc.)
- Magnifying tools and binoculars
- Frist aid kit
Other Things You Can Borrow
The Sheep River Library has a collection of over 50 puzzles, with more on order!
- 3 week loans (excluding children's puzzles with less than 300 pieces, which are in-library use only)
- Not all of our puzzles are on display! If you don't see a favorite you want to make sure still has all its pieces, talk to a staff member.

Our Book Clubs in a Bag each have the following items:
- 5-8 copies of the book (same edition so you don't have different page numbers
- A discussion guide, with information about the book and/or questions you can ask to drive discussion at your book club meeting.

Sheep River Library - Book Club in a Bag
Come and sign out one of our 4 Explore and Go Literacy Kits! The kits can be signed out for 1 week with up to 2 renewals.
Each kit contains 5 different books including a rhyming book, storybook, level reader, board book, "interactive" call and answer, and a laminated guide. They are also filled with different games and activities for you and your children to play and explore together, all items are related to the theme of the kit.
Our themes are:
- Jungle animals
- Bugs
- Dinosaurs
- Things That Go
Our Children's Grab & Go Bags contain several different books all about the same topic (for example "feelings," "cats," or "space"). The topics are changed out a few times a year, so make sure to check them out for new topics from time to time!
