Makerspace
The Library owns a Brother CM550 DX Scan'n'cut machine. The library does not supply any of the materials (paper, fabric, etc.) you would like to cut.
In-library use only. Talk to library staff.
A staff member can laminate paper pages up to 8.5 x 11 inches (letter size) for you.

Audio & Video Recording

Green screen tips and tricks
Some of these pages do go slightly beyond the capabilities of our room. If you need more space to make full use of the green screen, consider booking a larger room.
You must request the ring light from a staff member, and it is for in-library use only.
- 25cm (10") ring light on a adjustable stand. Stand height up to 182 cm (72").
- Built in smartphone stand in the center of the ring. The smartphone stand can be removed, allowing for you to use your own DSLR camera, or a video camera. If you wish to use something other than a smartphone as your camera, please consult with library staff before your room booking to make sure your camera mounting system is compatible with the ring light.
- Multiple light settings, including warm light, white light, daylight, a variety of colours, plus mixed or dynamic colour modes pre-programmed.
- Brightness is adjustable.

- Several of our Education and Learning eResources have computer and technology tutorials, however for computer instruction we especially recommend:

- Niche Academy (the library card number is on the back of your card with no spaces, and the default PIN is the last four digits of your phone number).

We have public computers and free Wi-Fi.
- The computers in the main part of the library can be used by all ages.
- There are two adult-only computers near the windows. Ask if you need help finding them.
All library computers have the following:
- Windows operating system
- Black and white printing (See Copy, Print, Fax, Etc. for current prices.)
- Adobe PDF reader
- Microsoft Office (Word, Power Point, Excel, and Publisher)
- Internet connection and web browsers (Chrome, Firefox, and Microsoft Edge)
- Some productivity applications (audiovisual viewing, paint, calculator, etc.)
Laptops are only available for the following uses:
- People registered for in-library programs or workshops that require a computer. Please mention that you need a library laptop when you sign up for the workshop or program!
- People who are having and exam supervised/proctored in the library.
The laptops we have available all use a windows operating system, and may only come with a touchpad/trackpad (may not have a computer mouse).
Scan to email
- Our scan-to-email service is available at low cost. (See Copy, Print, Fax, Etc. for current prices.)
High quality scanning of photos, slides, negative, and other items
- The library has a flatbed scanner for many of your scanning needs.
If you want to see what is really on those old slides or negatives, but don't want to scan them (yet), you can use our Light Table (also known as a Light Box) - an ArtOGraph 930 Light Pad.
- 30.5cm x 22.9cm (12" x 9") illuminated surface.
- While walk-ins can use the Light Pad, please phone or contact the library to book the room (room 2) to make sure it is there when you need it.

Our low vision enhancement system allows a user to more easily read a book or other physical item. It has the following abilities:
- magnification (all colour modes)
- convert to black and white
- high-contrast colour modes
- enhance outlines (positive and negative mode)
Unless it is being used, our walker for users with mobility issues is located across from the main desk near the main entrance of the library.

The full-sized upright piano that approved players can use is generally near the fireplace.

The library has about a dozen board games for you to use in the library, including:

Puzzles with fewer than 300 pieces are available in the children's section of the library, and are in-library use only.
